I had my right upper and lower wisdom teeth extracted five days ago. The lower one was horizontally impacted and was partially erupted. My dentist said he had a hard time extracting it because it was so far back in my mouth and close to the nerve. It's been about five days and I'm still feeling some pain. It's not nearly as bad as the first day when I got back home from the dentist's office, it's a little bit of pain that radiates to my right ear and jaw. I take one painkiller in the morning and one at night (ibuprofen 600 mg) and I usually don't feel the pain anymore but still feel a teeny bit of sharp and/or dull throbbing pain every now and then. I've been following my dentist's rules as well as rinsing with salt water. Is it possible to be dry socket if the pain isn't getting worse?

Hi quotations, from reading here on the forum, dry socket is extremely painful, often not even manageable with painkillers. If you notice that the pain is gradually getting less and less then you should be fine.
You had posted this few days ago - how are you doing now?
