Teeth removed

I have severe PTSD and dental phobia. I have to have all of my upper teeth removed and partial denture implants and my new dentist doesn't have IV sedation. He prescribed halcion one an hour before the surgery and one to bring with me to the appointment (which he anticipates will take 5-6 hours) will the medicine work? It's next week and I'm freaking out and thinking about cancelling...

Sorry, Halcyon isn't used here, I've no experience with it. Oral sedation in general is fairly effective for most people most of the time, so they chances are very good that you'll be fine.

@shanny I'm having a full mouth extraction in a few weeks with halcion. Did you go through with it? I'm also freaking out but I have to get the work done because most of my teeth are infected and I'm always ill. I can't put it off any longer and I am hoping this will help.
