I cannot go any longer and I don't know what to do. There was a time when I was ok with going to the dentist and I had money to pay for my care, but now everyday is painful and I don't have any money to pay for care.

Additionally according to the my last dentist he informed that I had in his words "dodgy DNA and perhaps it would be better if I didn't exist at all"

Since that point all my confidence has gone and I don't know what to do

Any help would be welcome

Riber...have you checked with your local Dept of Human Services..they'll know about places where you can get work done free or for a small fee.
I am so sorry to hear about your situation..
In most dental offices there is Care Credit inquire about it..its great.

What a terrible thing for a dentist to say to you, I'm amazed that anyone who enters a profession where they are caring for people could be so insensitive [smiley=hugging.gif]

I see that like me you are in the UK and the only thing I can suggest is that you phone your local PCT to see if there is a Community Dentist in your area and see if you come under any of the categories required to get free treatment. I used to have a great guy that would come to my house and do white fillings etc and it was totally free. However last time I checked they no longer offered that service in my area, but it's worth trying where you are.

Other than that there is just the NHS ::) Maybe you could find one who would let you pay for treatment in instalments. Good luck.

Are you in the exempt from charges category - see above link? If not the maximum charge for a course of treatment is still very low at 198 pounds. If you are in pain, you can phone the PCT for emergency care arrangements in your area. You could also ask your GP to refer you to the Community Dental Service in your area. You obviously don't want to be going back to the last one...if your health is compromised, that could also gain you access to CDS care (only ever hear good reports about them by the way) without needing to be phobic.
Good luck, getting the pain sorted would probably help ease the depressed feelings. :grouphug:

QUOTE from NHS website: 'Simpler charging

These pages provide information about NHS dental services in England and answer some common questions about NHS dentistry.
There are now three standard charges for all NHS dental treatments. This makes it easier to know how much you may need to pay and also helps to ensure that you are being charged for NHS care (rather than private care).
The maximum charge for a complex course of treatment is £198*.
Most courses of treatment cost £16.50* or £45.60*.
* These charges apply from April 1 2009.
You still receive free NHS dental treatment if you meet the exemption criteria'

Help with my Dentist

The Dental clinic I attend is:
xxx Private Dental Clinic

I have not attended for the last 2 and a half years because I live in fear and terror but I am in desperate need of treatment as I live everyday in constant pain and cannot take anymore.

The dental person I see there told me on last appointment that my gums and teeth were bad because I had faulty DNA and that the human race would be better off without me contaminating it any further. I thought Nazism was over!!!

I was so upset and traumatised by this that I been unable to overcome my fears and go back. I was prior to this a scardy cat when it came to going to the dentist due to some bad treatment I had in the past but I was fortunate enough to find a good dentist to whom I went to regularly for 11 years but because I had to move because of my work I could no longer afford doing 400 mile round trips with overnight bed and breakfast stays and now my world has literally fallen apart.

I just got out of hospital 10 days ago after being in there for over 6 weeks with pneumonia and I am only 47 and as I said I am in continual pain at present and need treatment urgently and wondered if my own doctor could send me to the local dental hospital for treatment?

Any help advice or guidance would be most welcome as I am desperate!

Re: Help with my Dentist

Hello riber
[smiley=welcome.gif]!!! it's great to have you post here on our forum.

Sounds like you have had good experiences with a dentist that you have come to like and trust. and I would like you to know that you will be able to find a new dentist in your new area that will also be sensitive, caring and compassionate so that you have positive dental experiences again.

look under the "find a dentist" tab here on this website to see if there are any in your area. another great way to find a dentist is to ask your friends, family, work colleagues how they like their current dentist. OR, phone a new office and tell the receptionist that you have had some bad dental experiences and now are terrified of going back and seeing a dentist that is not sensitive in what they say to you or how they take care of you. Communicating exactly what you have communicated with us here will go a long ways. Once they are aware of your concerns, they will be able to help you better. If you do not get a good feeling that they are taking good care of you on the phone, then thank them for their time.... and go ahead and call another office. you deserve to go to an office where you feel that they are taking goood care of you.

You will feel better once you begin with the first step.

And we are here to support you in your journey.

you can do it.
Best wishes,
Dr. SHirley

I Posted originally last night but I couldn't find it this morning so had to repost

Re: Help with my Dentist

Your response a bit too good to be true and did't answer my question as to whether my GP can send me directly to a dental hospital??

Re: URGENT PLEASE HELP I am constant Pain

Hi Riber,
I see you live outside the US so not sure if I can be of any real help but my heart goes out to you truly and I will pray you find the help you need from a kind dentist, I was just horrified reading how you were spoken to. No one has the right to talk to anyone that way.
I am not sure how your health care system works but I was wondering if it was at all possible for you to go to a different clinic where perhaps you could be treated with more compassion?
Blessings to you:)

Re: URGENT PLEASE HELP I am constant Pain

Your post was moved to support. Yes go to see your GP for assistance would be my advice.
