Morning,
In 3 hours I am having my upper second molar removed (no wisdom teeth so the "last" tooth in my mouth)
I had an extraction last month so I'm not so nervous about the procedure BUT I am terrified that as it's a filled tooth, I will swallow or inhale either the filling or the tooth as it comes out.
I can't stop panicking about this.
How realistic is this?
Reassure me please!
Thanks
Verity

Let's put it this way - even though this forum is like a magnet to people who have had things go wrong during dental treatment, I haven't come across a single post over the last 21 years (yes, we've been around for that long!) where someone swallowed or inhaled a filling or a tooth during an extraction. So I think the chances of it happening are very close to zero!

However, if this is one of your big worries, do let your dentist know beforehand so they can reassure you!

Best of luck and please let us know how you got on!

Thank you so much! The tooth is out - all is well!!!

That’s great news- congratulations!!

I had an upper second molar removed exactly a week ago. One of my worries was the same as yours. By the time I got into the chair that worry went away. I see you had yours extracted. Wishing you a quick recovery. I still can’t open up my mouth far and my cheek is still a little swollen and very painful (from the injections).
