After an almost 2 1/2 year ordeal I’m finally getting my permanent crowns for my implants tomorrow. I should be excited but instead I’m scared.
For one I had an appointment just yesterday to fit the implants before the porcelain is applied (I don’t know what it’s called but it was gold attaching to them on top and bottom) and it hurt like heck getting the numbing beforehand and even more so when the numbing started to wear off (I burn through it fast, dentist knows this) with already irritated gums from yesterday I’m worried how much more it might hurt tomorrow.
On top of that I have a semi irrational fear I’m gonna hate them. I don’t know why. I’ve had no front teeth since October 2017 (had the implants placed September 2018, healing abutments placed February 2019 and it’s been slow since then due to some metal allergies I have) and I’ve grown so accustomed to that that when they put the pieces in yesterday it wasn’t uncomfortable but just felt weird/wrong.

I’m beyond thrilled I’m almost done...but I still have one tense appointment to go...

First off that's great your almost done even if it may not seem it right now+well done on getting through your appointment the other day. I've been thinking exactly the same no one better ask if I'm excited because I'm not just petrified,I also am thinking no I probably won't like them (just going by what I've seen so far) so wouldn't say thats irrational. I have 3 appointments left (supposedly) much as I'd like to think it will be the end I doubt it very much. Do you take anything like diazepam maybe that would help?+update when your done.

Good luck... maybe it won't hurt all that much? Try to think positive thoughts, if you expect pain, you will certainly feel it more acutely than if you don't...

I am kind of envious, you are getting your teeth already - and I have only just started on this journey, only a week and a half without my front tooth so far... Hope it won't take quite this long for me...

I hope it can be a quick journey for you. Mine was way longer then normal due to metal allergy complications at the start. I can’t have anything with nickel or cobalt so we had to figure out what I could use.

hopefully you can finish soon. No I don’t take anything, just listen to music and text friends. I will update tomorrow!

I hope it doesn’t hurt as much this time. I am getting the same thing done within a month (hopefully). I get impressions done next week for my teeth (front tooth and two molars). I was told there was no pain and wouldn’t even need numbing but I am worried.

Wolfsrule,

Lots of emotions,, wow.. almost done. fear, excitiment so much. and really I think personally fear of the unknown is totally rational ... you are now used to what you have and you don' know how it will turn out.. and really hoping it will be more lovely than you can imagine.. I also hope they can do it gently and put you to ease painfree through out the process!! :grouphug: Almost nearing the finish line!!

We are with you!! Let us know how it goes

DONE!!!! It hurt quite abit but it’s so worth it!!!!! I have front teeth again for the first time 2 1/2 years! I have to come back in March for a bite adjustment but besides that I’m home free!

So glad you are done! I hope I have the same attitude about it being worth the pain, and can remember that while I am going through it!
So you are happy with the teeth?

yes I’m very happy with them! Now it’s gonna take some getting used to, when I try to drink it all just dribbles out...much less eat lol but that will go away in a few days.

I love them! It does feel surreal I keep having to remind myself they aren’t gonna go away, they are here to stay!

Isn’t it just the best feeling? I couldn’t stop grinning when I got mine! I celebrated with a slice of crusty French bread.
