Hello, I'm an extremely anxious dental person. Sadly my dentist of 30 died. His partner, I've seen a few times and like. But he is elderly and often when I go in, some fill in dentist is there, that I have never met. Last week, the job was to remove a 15 year old crown to address a cavity. (This was found by my excellent perio hygenist. She said it wasn't bad, but have it looked at at some point. Okay so they take a bunch of x-rays, and this fill in dentist took off the LAST molar, which was not the problem. He had me upside down, hands over nose, I couldn't breath. After he removes crown, he leaves! The building. The assistant slaps on a temp crown. Which has already chipped off. Anyway, I go thursday to my elderly dentist, and he knows what happened, apologized, no excuses, then says, well as it turns out, you need both those back molar teeth crowns off, and now I need two new crowns for 4K. I told him there was never a cavity on the molar this denist worked on, but he is saying, yes, while he approached the wrong tooth, it has some decay and I'll be lucky to save the tooth!

Meanwhile both of these teeth have root canals, there has never been pain, or swell.

I'm scheduled for a 3 hour! session Oct 31, so he can do both teeth at once. This has been a horror show for me, but given this office has already started the work, I can't go elsewhere and start over.

They are not accepting any responsibility. Despite this filler dentist they are now calling a TECH! He wasn't even a dentist.

I will find a new dentist after this, but this office changed so much after my dentist died, although they keep his name on the door which is weird. Anyway, this office has also had two other dentist do small work on me, and both times substandard. (Some bum bonding that came off in two days.)

I just feel absolutely terrified because I can't tell what the heck is going on. When I look at the dozens of x-rays I can't tell what I am looking at.

Any advice or ideas helpful. But is this common practice, to use filler dentists? And then one leaving me in the chair, numb with no tooth! thank you.
