I recently had a tooth break off and needed a crown. This was enough to cause panic. When I went in for the crown, I was terrified. It was all I could do to force myself to walk in the office.
But I was greeted by a young lady with a smile on her face. She obviously saw that I was scared. She quickly acknowledged my fears. Then she thanked me for the opportunity to take care of me. She told me she got into dentistry because she loves treating anxious patients and that she would do everything she could to make this easier for me.
She did just that. By the time my appointment ended, I didn't have any anxiety left. I was just so excited by the care I received. I now know I can get through anything because there's a dental team who cares.
I just want everyone to know there's hope. Too many times it feels hopeless to me a phobic patient. But there's hope. Some people genuinely care. We just need to find them. Don't give up. You deserve the best care possible.
