Third successful visit!

Ok so I had my third appointment in as many weeks today and it went well. I didn't know what work he was going to do and when I got there he asked me if I wanted 2 fillings or root extractions? I said fillings...


So anyway the most pain I had was my dentist leaning too much on my bottom lip! But when he had finished he asked me if I wanted the root extractions while I was still under local anasthetic. I didn't but I said "Let's do it!" lol

Overall the procedure was pretty painless, I felt a couple of twinges but there was nothing to it really!

So that's 2 fillings and 2 root extractions in one go! I'm quite proud of that score although I hate this bloody cotton wool in my mouth!

Anyway, I want to know if there is usually a lot of pain after root extractions? Should I take Ibuprofen now? It tells me on the note he gave me to avoid drinking for at least an hour but in the same note it says I may want to take painkillers before the anasthetic wears off!

What should I do?

Ryan,

Take the ibuprofens after the hour, the anaesthetic lasts at least that long - but you probably found that out by now. After that, play it by ear - if you need more painkillers take them, if you're not in any pain then don't bother.

I had 12 extractions in one appointment and had zero post-op pain or swelling or bruising. Once the IV sedation and freezing wore off, I felt as if nothing had happened - except that there were a bunch of stitches where the teeth on the right side of my face had been.
