TMJ flare-up/healing time

How long does it usually take for a TMJ flare-up to heal and how long should someone maintain a soft diet to minimize symptoms?

It all depends. For how long have you had this flare-up? The longer it has been, the longer it will take to heal.

For the soft diet, the best is to keep it as long as you don't feel good. I know in my case I will sometimes start feeling better, eat harder stuff and fall back in the pain. So keep in mind your previous experiences too.
