I am due to have LR8 extracted because decay has spread under gum line and it hurts now every day. I have to wait for hospital appointment another 6 weeks as my dentist won't do it because I have Trigeminal Neuralgia.
Does the tooth look difficult to extract ? Is it very close to the nerve?
I am deadly scared I will develop TN on right side now.
Also why do they let me wait so long with bad tooth pain ?

No it doesn't look hard to extract, but it does look pretty close to the nerve. You don't want a regular dentist doing that, needs a specialist, which is presumably why your dentist is sending you to the hospital.

It's a fairly simple job for an oral surgeon, so don't panic about it. No, it doesn't mean that you will get TN on the other side.

Thank you for your answer. That's helpful.
Is it ok to be in pain for another about 2 months till I have it removed ? I am worried it will get abscessed. I am starting new job on Monday and worried things will go down the hill .

Have you been offered antibiotics? I'd expect to be able to manage this fairly well (going by the x-ray) with antibiotics and painkillers until you get the tooth out.

Thanks for taking time to reply . I appreciate.
They haven't offered me antibiotics since there is no visible infection.
The panoramic x-ray which I posted is from 8 month ago. Now I have a filling on the side of that tooth but it kept in falling out since the place is difficult to keep dry when they do it,also the decay spread under the gumeline . No up to date x-ray until I get to hospital

There's a visible infection on that x-ray. Go ask for some antibiotics :)

I have been to The Dentist 2 Days ago and she said to me that antibiotics won't help because there is no infection. Has she missed it? I will have to go again then.

Well in dentist speak, there is an apical radiolucency on the distal root of the 3rd molar. Measures about 3mm diameter. Unless there's a more recent x-ray where it's not visible then that means there's an acute infection going on, especially given the fact that you're in pain.
