Tooth hurts with pressure

I went to have a tooth (third molar at the bottom) looked at on Friday, it has a huge, old filling, and on thursday night, I felt a little twinge when I put my splint on (I am unfortunately a very adept bruxer!). My tooth was sensitve in the morning so I went and my dentist said it was because of my receding gum line, he put some desensitising product on. I was relieved that there was no other work to be done as I am really phobic and even when he sent me to the specialist clinic before, the gas and air did nothing at all for me.

I spent the weekend with a very sore face, I assumed it was just my tooth grumbling a little after being prodded. But this morning, it hurts a lot more, I can't see my dentist he is fully booked. It hurts when my tongue touches the tooth, but there is no pain under my jaw where I would expect to feel pain if I had an abscess. I looked and there is no swelling in my gum, but I noticed my salivary gland ducts under my tongue on that side are red and a little puffed up.

Is there anything I can do to ease the pain until I can see him? What could possibly be going on. I suspected there might a crack in my tooth or between my tooth and my filling but my dentist didn't see any of that. I can't see him for a few days at least, and this is driving me mad, I can't concentrate, I can only stress. What to do?

Rinse with salt water and do not chew on that side until you can see the dentist.

Is there another dentist office you could visit? Maybe an emergency dentist?

I don't think so, i think in this country we're tied to one dentist clinic. I have called them and they will call back this afternoon after they speak to him. Let's hope he can help with nothing too invasive.
