Hey everyone, coming back to update. You can see my previous posts but I hadn’t been to the dentist for around 25 years, and my teeth are awful. I need three extractions and 18 fillings at 39 years old! My phobia is extreme.

A few weeks ago I had the extractions and an hygiene appointment under sedation and don’t remember a thing. Recovered well and today was the first three fillings. Can’t afford any more sedation so I was terrified but I did so well! I was shocked at how loud the drill was but I kept my eyes closed and headphones in and got through it. Next appointment in 5 weeks is for six fillings though. Three hours! Here’s a before and after pic as it was the three front teeth that were done. Now I can smile when I go and see Taylor Swift in 4 weeks time!

@4432paula well done they look amazing! Also how was sedation ? Did you have iv sedation where they put a cannula on your arm .
I’m need sedation for a tooth removal but so scared

Well done !

Thank you! I can’t believe I did it!

Sedation was AMAZING. I would have it for every procedure if I could afford it. And yeah that’s the type I had. I don’t remember a single thing and apparently I was chatting all the way through. They took three teeth out and did a deep clean when I was sedated! Had no side effects at all.

@4432paula aww fantastic news !!! I think I just need to go for it . Did they have too book an appointment for you or was you offered it straight away ? Also was it done by NHS sorry to ask so many questions but it helps me
Understand things more .

Honestly well done

That’s ok. Happy to help and answer questions!

I couldn’t get it on the NHS, had to find a specialist dentist that offered it and go private. It was quite expensive. Around £270 per hour I think. I paid on finance for all of my treatment as the dentist offered that and my total bill is nearly £5000 for all of the stuff I need!

They needed to book it in advance as a special nurse trained in sedation had to be present for the appointment and I also had to have a check up a couple of weeks before where they looked at my blood pressure, BMI, heart rate and stuff like that.

@4432paula thanks . I am waiting too see the specialist care dentist (October ) but I know the tooth that needs taken out may need it done sooner and am just at a loss with it all . I don’t know what to do .
It’s good too hear that it was successful for you and from reading most peoples posts it seems sedation is fine . I had teeth out under general anaesthetic but I know for this one tooth they won’t let me ( understandable ) .

Did you have any teeth out ?

Yeah I had three out under sedation. Two molars and one wisdom.

@4432paula okay thanks that’s actually amazing.

I wonder if it would take a few minutes too tak just one tooth out .

I’m just going too see how much longer I can cope then my daughter said she will phone around and see what help they can offer .

Hope you enjoyed the concert

It doesn’t take long to get a tooth out from what I know so if you’ve got other stuff that needs doing it might be a good idea to get it all done while you’re sedated. Concert is in four weeks!

@4432paula just the tooth needs taken out. I am okay with fillings as they use the wand not a needle. I already have a partial denture and I need another for my bottom back teeth as I have none .

Thanks for the help and advice . Not sure I can carry this out till October
