Hi, new here, just wanted to ask about that bit that connects the upper lip and gum (thats the tecnical term right? lol) It looks and feels like there is a skin tag there. Can that happen? Also, if i said about it to my dentist could he remove it for me?
Thanks in advance.

Haha- it's called the maxillary labial frenum and I've read that frenal tags are pretty common and you can leave it alone if it's not causing any problems.

I had a frenulectomy- removed- it was "prominent" I had a gap between my two front teeth and that thingy over grew and got in the way of closing the space. Had it done by laser (no stitches) which I would highly recommend over cut and sew. Procedure was painless, with local and quick, recovery- stung quite a bit, used an oral gel and salt water rinses and it healed pretty quick.

I don't miss it, it is a lot easier to brush my front teeth at the gumline now. And no space with some nice crowns.

To add to what RP said the only time you need to remove it is if the frenum ( skin tag) is attached close to the edge of your tooth and causing the gum to pull away from your tooth.
