urgent help

last year my back lower tooth broke and just left a empty shell leaving gum exposed , lately its went really red and is now tenderand sore , my sister said i may have blood poisoing so am a bit freaked out , hate dentist as it is

It is true, there are probebly bacteria coming from the cavity and spreading in the body through the blood vessles, so it is in any case not healthy to leave it unattended, but unless you have the extreme symptoms like fever and general malaise, it is not a life treatening situation, so no need to panic, just take care of it.
