Using dental disclosing tablets.

Please can a dental professional advise me when to use plaque disclosing tablets.
My hygienist used one at the beginning of.my appointment, before she'd done any cleaning.
The box of disclosing tablets states to clean your teeth first and then chew the tablet afterwards.

Which would you advise is the correct order?

I'm not a dental professional,but my dad is. I'm not sure how correct he was in his method,but my dad had me start using them after I went through a period of not brushing my teeth and sometimes he's had me chew the tablets before I brushed my teeth and sometimes I've had to brush my teeth and then chew the tablet and re-brush my teeth. I don't know if they are designed the same way in the UK,but the ones that I have used you have to brush your teeth afterwards because that's the only way to get the color tint off.

To be honest, since I posted my message I've done both. Last night I used one and brushed before hand, there were a few areas that I'd clearly missed, so I re-brushed them.
Other times I've used the tablet before brushing at all.
Either way, I'm doing my best with my cleaning regime & that's what matters in the end.
