Wanted a couple of volunteers, must be strong! Armed with handcuffs, rope atleast 5m long and a crate of strong alcohol or other mind numbing substant. To escort dental phobic to the chair. Please don't be sensitive to tears or accept any kind of bribery from the phobic.
Apply within. ;D

Not sure this is the right approach for any dental phobic...just someone you trust to hold your hand and medication if you really need it...might work better.....oh and the first time you go...just go for a chat...makes all the difference and takes the pressure off.

I'd love to go for a chat but everywhere is too busy so they don't want to take the time with me

Are you trying to do this on the NHS in the UK then?
A private dentist shouldn't mind a chat...you simply pay for their time...they don't all cost a fortune...might be worth looking in to -if you have been looking exclusively at NHS ones so far.

Beware being fobbed off by receptionists:devilish:  in private sector also :p.

Have you checked on the Dentist-Finder for your area yet?

Also if after a quick discussion, you find you like the person you meet...you may feel able to proceed with a check-up and x-rays at the same appt but this could make you feel much more pressured.

I did start with NHS but I have now emailed a couple of private ones, I'm still waiting for a reply but fingers crossed it gets me somewhere=)
