Hi,

I don't understand what I am supposed to do when the dentist put the suction tip in my mouth and ask me to close my mouth. The tip always get stuck on my tongue or palate and doesn't suck anything out.

I had 2 appointments in the last weeks and both times the assistant left the suction in my mouth and laughed when she saw me struggling with it. I tried to tell her that I didn't know where to put my tongue but I already had other tools in my mouth. The second time she said that I better not get my uvula stuck in it.

I don't get it and I feel stupid, what was I supposed to do ??

Thanks

I always keep my tongue under it and close my mouth around the tip when I can feel the saliva starting to accumulate. When I don't feel like there's anything to suction, I just leave my mouth slightly ajar, but my tongue is still under it.
