I had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed 5 weeks ago, and my tops are still giving me a good amount of discomfort. I went back to the oral surgeon two weeks post op because I was still in a lot of pain, and wanted to make sure that everything was healing properly. She said that my gums looked fine, but that my pain wasn't normal. I haven't gone back yet because I'm thinking that it is just something that I have to wait through, but the tops are still bothering me a lot. I'm only 19 and expected to recover from this a lot faster. The pain is like a tight achey pain, and it is there 24/7. Do you think that I should make another appointment? Or does this sound like a normal healing situation? I will appreciate any input.

I can't say for sure, but this doesn't sound normal. When I had my wisdom teeht extractions, I was totally fine in a week. My tops never hurt at all, the bottoms were the problem and that was over in a week. I took painkillers (mostly ibuprofein) for about five days. I was 18 then. I think you should make an appointment.

Even after she said that everything looks fine, which was a few weeks back? What will they do next, take xrays? Apparently everything looks fine from the outside.

They may have looked normal 5 weeks ago, they may not look OK now, it's best to go back and have somebody take another look. X-rays might be helpful, but it depends what things look like.

I'm still in constant discomfort, and I've made another appointment with my oral surgeon tomorrow. Hopefully things will start looking up soon.

My oral surgeon again told me that everything looks fine, with her guess being that I have either nerve damage or something is wrong with my muscles. She said that it looked like a muscle problem as opposed to a TMJ problem, and she referred me to a specialist. I just don't understand how this is all coming up after the removal of my wisdom teeth.
