so i had my first lower wisdom tooth removed 3 days ago on tuesday. everything went relatively well even though i was anxious about it, no bleeding for some time after and the pain was manageable.
the next day, however, i had almost constant bleeding for most of the day which refused to stop despite biting on gauze and holding an ice pack on my cheek throughout the day. i ended up going to the dentist's the next morning, and they shoved in some surgicel soaked in tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding (which hurt quite a bit as they didn't use any anaesthesia). it seems to have done the trick, as there has since been no bleeding whatsoever.
but now, a bit over 24 hours later, i'm noticing that what i presume to be the blob of surgicel and blood that has started to work its way out, and quite a bit of it is sticking out. still no bleeding and very little pain or discomfort, but the nonstop bleeding was rather unsettling, so i'm a bit scared of that happening again.
so, is it normal that the surgicel would dig itself out on its own, and is it something to be concerned about if it does pop out eventually?
i'm trying to avoid it the best i can, but i'm already having a bit of trouble ingesting anything without causing a disturbance. and i'd really rather not go back for another visit, the latest one freaked me out enough, since i wasn't prepared for the pain at all
