Wisdom tooth removal recovery

Hi all, I had lower left wisdom tooth removed 8 days ago. I did end up back at the dentist with partial dry socket 3 days ago where they cleaned and packed it. Im still in pain though - gums are sore and inflamed and have constant low level pain in all surrounding and adjacent teeth! Its like what I imagine teething pain to be. Im using salt water rinse every time I eat, as well as first and last thing each day.
Is this all normal as part of healing? Craving the day where Im not in pain.
