I’ll try to keep this short. I’m 39. When I was 15, I had a traumatic experience with an extraction. The dentist gave up half way through and kicked me out of his office. It wasn’t in USA. It was where I grew up. I walked around in search of another dentist and finally found one who had four guys hold me down while he yanked my tooth out. I had another tooth extracted in 2013 hereIn the states and it was a great experience but I was given IV. Didn’t feel a thing. It was a joyride. So anyone hear freaking out about it getting an IV worry not. It’s a cakewalk.
Now I’m getting my wisdom tooth extracted on Thursday. The dentist said I don’t need IV. Only local. He prescribed me Valium and told me to take it an hour before. I haven’t ever been awake during an extraction after 1995. I’m freaking out. I have severe anxiety and claustrophobia. What if I lose my breath during the procedure? Can I sit up? What if I get a panic attack? Etc etc. I’m also getting two fillings and deep cleaning along with this extraction. Will Valium be enough?
Anyone with with the same anxiety who had an extraction “WITHOUT I.V. DRIP” I really wanna know your experience.
Much appreciated! ?
