wisdom tooth/teeth removal after nerve damage due to injection by another dentist/ please help
Hello, I am 32 year old female and to put this long story short I have dentist phobia. More then 4 years ago before moving from one country to another, I decide to fix my teeth. I had a small, routine, as I thought filling to be made. My usual dentists - two of them - where on maternity. As it was not a major issue, I decided to go to non-stop dent place, where they have many different dentists hired. I had an appointment with a young dentist. When he put a needle to numb the area I felt extreme pain and electric shock sensation.... and he damaged my nerve. Even thinking about this makes me sick to my stomach, and I want to cry at recollection of this It is even hard to type what happened. I couldn't feel half o my face, and feeling returned gradually over the months.... months... I felt pain and all sorts of weird sensations, I even had problems swallowing saliva. At the dentistry where I did this they were not compassionate and they were trying to convince me that this can be a side effect and it can be normal (!). I was in a hurry as I had a plane, accommodation and new job waiting abroad. I was offered free treatments with lamps, was taking huge doses of Vitamin B. After more then 4 years, I still feel occasional tingling, weird tickle sensation on the tip of my tongue. I was terrified that the damage would be permament and had no resources to get any compensation. I was informed by another dentist, that I would lose anyway. Since that time I had 2 appointments and one filling done on on another side..... upper part, so no nerve block needed. I was terrified to even think about numbing the ''damaged'' part again. One of dentist said either nerve block or IV general anaesthetic.... only several days ago I learned I can do local infiltration. I will do a small filling on the lower right side next week. But this is not my biggest concern. I was referred by my dentist to go to oral surgeon, due to pericorontis. I got antibiotic but wisdom teeth need to be removed as there is not enough space for them to fully erupt. Also, on the side of one of them there is tooth decay. I was thinking that I could live with risk of pericorontis, and simply do the rinses everyday. But for some reason all dentists advised removal. Now, I am afraid to remove it due to my nerve damage. They are situated above nerve which was visible on xray so the risk is low. But I am not a doctor, and I imagine, since my nerve was already damaged there is much risk that it will happen again..... I am just terrified. I will go on consultation with the dentist first and not sure about if I go through with that. Please helpI already suffer from general anxiety and this situation seems to be completely out of control for me.
