I'm getting a number of teeth removed, and the oral surgeon I saw said that there is no danger in drinking out of straws (and even encourages it) and said it is safe to use mouthwash a day after extraction. This contradicts what I read most places, and heard from other oral surgeons others went to.
My worst fear, like many, is doing anything that will encourage a dry socket (like I thought straw drinking would). Now I'm not sure what I can do to prevent it, though my oral surgeon seemed certain and has a lot of experience. Any other opinions on this, or advice? I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.
