After replacing an amalgam filling on a molar. I still get pain on biting. This tooth has small cracks in the middle of it. It was suggested that there is high point on the tooth cusp which needs filing down . Another dentist told me that the filling is too low. So I didn't do anything and still can't use it. Any suggestions?

The other possibility is that the pain on biting is caused by a crack in the tooth. If that was the case, then covering the cusps to stop the tooth from flexing and to prevent the crack from propagating may help (e.g. by doing an onlay).

Maybe you could get a third opinion from an experienced dentist?
