I am 37 and unfortunately have not been to the dentist in several years . My bottom teeth are converging on each other, one of my front teeth has a very small chip, and I fear that there may be more hidden problems. I have never had a cavity and have no pain at all (KNOCK ON WOOD...SERIOUSLY). I really would like to get back to taking better care of my teeth but I am still paralyzed by fear when thinking of going to a dentist. I am so scared of being told that I need braces, tooth removal, or oral surgery that I shake when I even think of calling a dentist. I would love to find a kind, gentile, and super understanding dentist in my area who could help me. Either male or female is fine. I am in North Central NJ.

I have searched the dental finder and none of the dentists are near where I live (Morristown). Appreciate any assistance anyone can provide.

Hi NJIrish. welcome to these boards.

What is the city you live in, in NJ.

I shall try and do some research and find a few dentists. I will make sure they deal with phobics.

Then, if I find one or two, in my opinion (and I've done this), I believe it's important to get a dialogue going via email with these dentists to see what kind of practice they have.

so if you want a little help, all you have to do is give me your zip code and I'll get crackin.

You don't have to do anything even if I give you the information. Remember, you are always in control.
You make the decisions if you contact these people or not.

So have a good, calm day, okay?

I have a name of someone in Saddle Brook, NJ. This may still be a little too far for you, but if you're interested the office is Dental Health (Dr. M. Paltac for short who is a female) on Mayhill Ave, Saddle Brook 201-843-4430. They have a separate hygenist, and separate specialists within the office for different types of work. Feel free to send me a private message if you have any questions.

Dr.Teresa Bijak in Manville, NJ (Near Somerville/Bridgewater). Sorry, I don't have the number on me. I hadn't been in 5 years. I had a cracked tooth that I let go for a year for fear. My husband was the one who went  to check the dentist out and made an appointment for me. She was sooooo gentle and most important to me, very respectful of my fears. And spent quite a bit of time speaking to me. Very nice, clean offices.

I only wish I went sooner. Now, I have to have 2 teeth removed and on to the oral surgeon!!! HELP!
