I suffer from agrahobia so it's vertically impossible for me to get to a dentist. Trust me iv tried many times and failed. Iv been in touch with a mobile dentist who normally goes to care homes, he's prepared to come to my home. The problem is now is my shame of having to do this.

Hi kayduck, I am sorry to read about your situation. I truly believe that agoraphobia is a serious condition and not something you can change by will. I am glad you were able to get a mobile dentist. When it comes to shame, that's a difficult one. You have not chosen to have this condition. It may feel like something is bad about you, but it really isn't. You have suffered, you have tried to find ways out, you have been courageous and had perseverance and you have taken action towards your health. If anything, you may try to be proud of yourself for being so brave. :respect:
Is this about what the dentist thinks or more about how you feel?

Thank you. It's how I feel. The dentist has told me repeatedly that he visits lots of people in my situation.

I see. Sounds like you are very hard on yourself.

Yes I am but I think it's part of the condition. The dentist is visiting at the end of August for the check up and clean. I'm now checking my teeth and gums every hour of the day. I will go through with it though, I have too.
Thank you for taking the time for me.

I think I'm also dealing with some sort of agoraphobia. The thought of going outside adds to my anxiety about going to the dentist. It sucks.

Yes it's very hard to deal with but remember your doing the best you can right now x

Hi. I had agoraphobia from age 23-28. I’m now 61. I found some things at the time helped me. I still carry a squishy stress stick of butter that helps and I wore a rubber band around my wrist. When I felt anxious I would snap the rubber band. It would send a pain sensor to my brain and relieve the anxiety.

I always had to know where the exits were and still carry that with me.
Just keep your head up… I promise you this won’t last forever.

I’ve struggled a lot with anxiety and agoraphobia. I highly recommend the DARE book and the DARE phone app. Saved my life
