Buell or anyone else who had a temp bridge after an extraction

Did they tell you not to clearn under it, because you might pull it off?

I'm figuring I'm going to have this temp for a while, until the site heals completely, so that's along time not to clean under it will floss. I'll talk to the dentist next week at my Post Op but was curious what you were told.

I'm guessing I shouldn't touch under there right now while the gum is healing but is it OK to start brushing it, say tomorrow.(Had extraction yesterday)

well my temp bridge might be a little different then most .. mine was made at a lab and was similar to a perm bridge.. it was very high quality .. i know some offices make cheap plastic ones .. it was also cemented on with really strong though removable cement .. so there was no chance of mine coming off.

But to answer your question .. it is recommended to clean under it .. be very careful though .. I would give it a couple days though before you start flossing under it.

as for brushing it .. a day or 2 after should be fine .. just be very gentle ... you dont want to irritate the stitches and such.

me personally ? .. I was flossing under it a couple days after the temp bridge was placed.. but as noted .. being VERY careful ..

another thing that can help is a dental syringe .. you can use that to dislodge pieces of food that get stuck without having to use the floss all the time. Your dentist should be able to get you one ...

btw: wait till you get your perm bridge .. its a night and day difference between the temp and perm one

Thank you. Thank you, I appreicate your help. I read through your whole story over the last few days. You are an inspiration.

I think it's tooth number 5, that was extracted and it's bridged between 6 and 4, or it could be 3(it seems I was born missing two teeth on the upper mouth, but no space is evident from it.) It's just one tooth that was missing.

They also took #1 and 2 as well and my two bottom wisdome teeth. # 2 had hyper erupted because I'm missing molars on the bottom, which is where I will need either a partial or an implant. I"m not sure I"m brave enough for the implants though, as I have a fear of being put out, and I can't imagine doing that awake.

Anyways, thanks for answering. I will definitely look into the syringe. My biggest fear of getting this bridge was having something go wrong with the two teeth that are supporting it.

If the teeth that you are using to support the bridge are in good health .. you should be fine .. my bridge is from canine to canine and they were used as the anchors for the bridge (crowned) and ive had it for a few months now (the perm one) and no issues at all

alot of it has to do with the prep work if you have a good dentist .. you are in good hands
