Can a dentist do a deep cleaning the same day as an exam?

So I posted not long ago about my first dental appointment in 8 years and how they canceled it but happily today there was a cancellation from another office I had called a few days ago for the 25th! Anyways what can I expect? This office seems friendly and they have 5 stars on google which makes me happy, and as I was filling out paperwork the hygienist told me they will do exams and a cleaning. I told her I have red gums but she didn’t seem concerned, I was so nervous I really blanked on asking more questions! Is it possible if I need a periodontal cleaning that they can do it that day? She did say it’s common to have patients with gum issues after a long absence from going to the dentist but I didn’t think to ask if they could do it for me that day.

Anyways I’d love some answers from a dentist or anyone who has had experience and can let me know what I can expect

Honestly, the only way to know is to phone back the practice and ask them. Some will do it, others won't, it depends on how they set up their new patient appointments.
