The other day I was surprised when I looked in the mirror and noticed a fine line running from my gum vertically down my front tooth. When I looked closely I noticed my other front tooth also had a faint crack in it! Both have small cracks that run from the gum down the tooth but don't connect to the bottom of the tooth. I'm a 25 year old guy and I feel that I take pretty good care of my teeth and I have a phobia for teeth related problems.
It was somewhat of a shock as only 2 months ago I had a crack in one of my back molars. Although it was a little different as my molar was very sensitive to hot/cold and also that tooth had a big filling done in it. I have spent a lot of money to fix it and now I have a temporary crown and will finish the procedure next month as I don't have enough money. Seeing these two new cracks just made my heart sank as I don't have enough money to deal with them and they are my two front teeth!
After doing some research though I think that they may be craze lines. I'm really hopeing they are! On the positive side my front teeth aren't sensitive to hot or cold. Drinking ice water doesn't seem to effect them and also when i bite on them there isn't any pain. I do feel though like there is a very mild sort of sore feeling from one of them...the problem is though that I am so paranoid when it comes to teeth that I think it might be just me being hypersensitive and maybe all in my head because I didn't feel any sort of pain before I found the cracks, and chances are I have had these cracks for some time before I discovered them yesterday.
I would love to go to the dentist to get them checked out so but I don't have any money to do so now. I'm going next month to finish up the other tooth so hopefully then I can get them checked but I don't want to wait that long!
Is there any way to check yourself to see if they are cracks or craze lines? Thanks so much in advance for the input.
