Hi

I have a cracked wisdom tooth that is down to the gum. I think the root is exposed and it has started hurting a bit he last few days. The pain comes and goes but it feels like an infection. The tooth is badly decayed and had a temporary filling in it.

Im scheduled to have the tooth removed at the hospital in just under 2 weeks but but am scared of the dentist due to a bad experience when I was younger.

Im also going on holiday for a week next week so don't want to bein in the pain of an extraction which I have already been advised will be painful once it's been taken out due to state of the tooth.

My question is, will they give me antibiotics to get rid of the infection( which I think it is as its similar pain as I have had before) and allow me to wait for my appointment in hospital or will he insist on taking it out.

Thanks

Sorry just realised therebisa section or isdom teeth. Please can the mods move my thread?

Thanks

It's better left in here, since it's not a specific wisdom tooth issue.

Either way the answer is kind of the same, if you don't want the dentist to remove it then say so, if he thinks that antibiotics will fix it, then he'll give you some, if he doesn't then he won't and you'll need to decide how to proceed from there.
