Cracked Wisdom Tooth

last weekend i broke off (1/3)of my lower left wisdom tooth some of it below the gum. I am going to the dentist tommorrow and my queastions are:-
1 Can the tooth be filled and saved?
2 If i have the tooth extracted, will he do that at the surgery or would i be best going to the hospital clinic and having a GA?

1) Probably not, depends how far below the gum level the break is
2) Maybe, depends on the dentist and the tooth
