Curved root on broken molar

I have to get an infected tooth removed soon and I am terrified. The tooth is far back lower right.My gum is already puffy and 2 lots of antibiotics made little improvement. I recently found out that it has a curved root. My appointment is for an hour with a Private dentist. As was told this was my only option, as no one else has the experience. This is making me feel so ill.

Good to hear that you have found a dentist who has the skill to remove it for you. Have you met with them? If so, how did you get on?

I will probably meet him on the day, as this is an ongoing issue, beginning in April! I first went with tooth pain and was decided I had a cracked molar. This was filled as an emergency as my own dentist was on holiday for 3 weeks. I paid Privately. This then got infected, so I had two weeks of different antibiotics to try to clear it a little. An appointment was booked for a review, I am alone at home nursing a cat with surgery all this time, so I booked an extraction for June 10th as cant leave my cat until then. This dentist was booked for his skill in dealing with the issue, but Ive read some horror stories!

Oh I'm so sorry that you've read some horror stories, no wonder you're terrified - I hope they're not horror stories about the particular dentist who's been recommended to you and who you are going to see?

No not him!
Im concerned because I should have gone earlier, but my cat has just had surgery and nobody to watch him until the 11th of June. My gum is puffy, so Im worried about it bursting and having to go in early. Im panicking about the after care .

It's great that you've been booked in with a dentist who's got the experience and skill for this, I'm sure that will make the experience - and the recovery - a lot easier! Chances are that the recovery will be pretty uneventful - most recoveries after tooth extractions are. Of course, when you google for it, you will get the stories where things didn't go so well - that's the nature of the internet (hardly anyone will go online to write about uneventful experiences). The key is to take pain killers for the first couple of days at a set schedule, rather than waiting for pain to set in (for some reason, it's easier to prevent pain than to stop it once it has kicked in).

Fingers crossed the infection doesn't get any worse between now and then . I hope your cat is doing ok??
