I had a root canalled upper back tooth pulled recently and the dentist drilled it a lot and it took him a very long and painful time to get it out and now a few weeks later the space where the tooth was still looks really scary. Because there is now like a gap ABOVE where the tooth used to be! So he took away a bit of my jaw above the tooth!
Thank God it was upper back tooth so no one can see it.
So my question is- is it going to become a problem that I have this gap in my jaw now? (I don't mean the tooth, but the jaw ABOVE where the tooth used to be.) Is my jaw going to change shape because of it? Will I need an operation? I hope not
And my second question is - was it the dentist's fault or was drilling my jaw and making a huge cut in it inevitable when extracting a large upper back tooth that has had a root canal? I'm asking as I also need to get a lower front tooth pulled next month and I don't want to have a huge cut in my lower jaw also! (especially as it's the front tooth). So if it was the dentist's fault then I will go to a different one.
Also, I was wondering, how difficult is extraction of front lower tooth, that has some fillings but has never had a root canal? I think it's number 23 on the tooth chart. How likely is it that I will end up with a gap in my jaw or something else that looks very scary after this extraction?
I hope that my description is clear. I'm sorry, I'm not very good at describing things to do with the mouth, so if you want me to clarify something, please ask me. I'm just very desperate for advice! Especially as I need to pull that front lower tooth ASAP. Please help!!! Thank you so much!!!!
