Conscious sedation

How relaxed will i be with 2mg ativan 1 hour prior and then laughing gas at appt.
Does he help just a little with anxiety or will I be happy happy happy.

Ok...so I am one of those.... The most phobic person on the planet.... I have a root canal coming up next week and and scared out of my mind.... Am driving everyone who doesnt have a phobia crazy....I have been given 2mg ativan to take 1 hour prior to appt and will get laughing gas at appt. I hope it works but does it really...I just want to get through this who awful thing.

It may work. IV sedation is much more controllable.

OMG i wish they offfered it but they dont.....
This is all they can give me.....

This is a bad idea....... I have no idea how I am going to do this.....


I cant breath at the thought of it....

Sorry you're feeling so terrified - know that feeling well!

There are plenty of success stories on DFC of people who have got through their appointments with oral sedation (tablets) and / or nitrous oxide (laughing gas).

If you search the forum you will find lots of them!

All you can do is try and see. If you try what they're offering you and still don't feel able to go ahead with the treatment, that's your choice. You could maybe look into finding somewhere that offers IV sedation instead. But, as I said, oral sedation/nitrous oxide work for lots of people, and there's every chance they will work for you.
