Went to have a temporary crown put on before getting the real one. Felt like saliva and mucus were building up in my throat and loss of control. I had to have them stop 4 times to let me swallow. Felt like I was drowning.

Thoughts are: If you ask, they WILL let you pause for a moment. I'm just wondering why it is such a big deal for them to pause for 10 seconds so I can swallow. I am also going to set up a "hand signal" from now on. This will help me to feel more in control.

It was weird because I knew logically that everything was okay, but still my body went into panic mode.

The hygenist also suggested I concentrate on breathing through my nose. That helped too.

Hehe......one thing I started to do was think about how embarassed I was and this helped me to be strong through the rest of the procedure. Also, getting mad at myself helped toughen me up.

Hope this helps someone. Boy, it feels good to get my feelings out!

Thanks, everyone! From [email protected]
