Hello

I had an upper 2nd premolar and an upper wisdom tooth removed 29 days ago (4 weeks) I had Alveogyl placed into the wisdom tooth one on day 11. The dentist left it in there until today. So the paste was in for 18 days.

When they removed the paste it was pain free but as the day has gone on I’m now experiencing mild pain/discomfort/pressure and the site has mildly inflammed again around the socket. The socket is also still open. It’s not changed much in 4 weeks.

She also took an x-ray of both sites and said there was no sign of infection or bone spurs so she’s not entirely sure why they haven’t closed up yet and said some people just heal slower then others.

Is the pain and inflammation normal with the paste removal as it irritated the socket?

She’s now told me As she wasn’t the one who took the teeth out if I have anymore issues with the sites I need to go back to the dentist who took them out to take a look as she Carnt do anything else for me. but I can’t travel back there as they where a rather long drive from my home to them.

Im really anxious about all This and terrified something has gone wrong and my dentist hasn’t picked up on it.

Are you taking any drugs called Bisphosphonates? Usually given for osteoporosis.

If not, then the likely cause is the socket getting irritated by removing the Alvogyl paste along with slower than average healing.

Hello

Thank you for your reply. No I’m not on any regular medication. I’m just a very slow healer. It’s not as bad today thankfully
