Hi, Firstly I hope you don't mind me posting here, Just words can't really describe just how scared I am right now :(

I have got my 1st appointment today at the emergency dentists, i haven't seen a dentist in 15 years, since i was about age 11 :o Just making the phone call was sooo hard, i was in floods of tears. I've always put off going, even when i've been in extreme pain, but over the past few days the pain has reached a whole new level.I know it's about time to stand up and face my fears. I'm not too sure what im exactly scared of though? The injections i think are my biggest fear. I've never had one before and the unknown is always the worst for me. I'm going through a bad patch at the moment, i suffer with my nerves, depression, anxiety and i rarely leave the house, so today is a big thing for me. Im type 1 Diabetic and have 4 injections a day, yet the thought of the injection from the dentist is killing me. I think its because i won't be in control *:'(

I have pain going into my jaw, up the side of my left cheek and ear ache from this,Nothing can touch the tooth in question without causing bad pain. Im so ashamed about the state of my teeth. I'm sorry for writing all of this, i don't even know why i have wrote it, im just so scared right now. I have to be at the dentists in 3 hours *:'(

Thank you for reading. I really appreciate it. x

First of all - sending you a big hug.[smiley=hug.gif]

Please, please try to relax a bit. You have actually done the worst part - made the appointment and resigned yourself to going in. Toothache is just one of the worst pains in the world - the HELL of all diseases as it is described - and you cant go on like this (with no sleep, and not eating I will guess). I am not a dentist, so will not also guess your treatment today - but honestly - NOTHING, not the injection, or any treatment will be as bad as the pain you are suffering now. In fact, they might not do anything but give you antibiotics.

If you do have to have an injection, honestly, things have changed so much in the last few years in dentistry (never mind in 15 years) and I bet you do not feel a thing. It will be over in a nanosecond, the PAIN will be gone as you will be numb. It is a wonderful feeling.

Most of the people here understand what you are going through right now - the terrible nerves and the butterflies in the stomach. But in a couple of hours, Ill bet you will be pain free and back home again having a cup of tea, posting here to tell us all how well it went. And dont be ashamed....we have all been there.

Thank you so much for your reply :) You are right, the only reason i'm finally going is that logic tells me that nothing can be worse than this pain, not even an injection.Deep down, i can't wait to get it over with, to be able to say, wow, ive done it! I'm just trying to stay calm and relaxed, watching a documentary that ive been meaning to watch etc etc. It will be a whole different story later on though. I feel drained from it all already. Thanks again for replying, you have really helped.I will try to update later with how I went if you don't mind. It's nice being able to put things down in words. x
