Well I did it , went for first app , had to wait 45mins to see dentist, which I coped with ok.
felt very vunarable when I went in & totally embarrassed about state of my teeth
he told me I needed a lot of work starting with seeing a hygienist . After the treatment plan I burst into tears, the dental nurse was very sweet & was trying to reassure me I would be ok . I'm really struggling as to how I will able to go through with treatment :-( they said they can refer me for sedation , but I really want to be able to cute this phobia by having treatment without it , but I really don't know if I can

I was in your position a couple of years ago, being terrified of treatment. I shook so much and couldn't breath, I felt so sick and thought I would pass out, I was that terrified I couldn't even talk properly.

I have seen three lovely dentists all very patient and caring, between them I now go to the dentist without fear and no shaking. I cannot believe that after all my life of being terrified I can now go like any normal person. They all made it clear to me that if I needed a break or wanted them to stop for any reason they would, and they did.

With the right dentist you can overcome your fears and get any treatment that you need done. It may take a few visits but you will get there. I would rather work with a dentist to overcome my fear than be sedated because if I chose to be sedated the fear would still be there. Doing it the way I did means that I can now go without all the stress we put ourselves through.

Good luck :clover::clover::clover: to you, I hope you too can overcome your fears and some time in the near future feel as calm as I now do when attending the dentist. :butterfly:
