Hand-held buzzer??

what about those play science kits everyone used to use in primary school where ya make ur own buzzer.........u cud also make a light bulb light up........they were so much fun but they would work....and they're fun to make :)

I feel we're getting close... keep 'em coming :D!!

ooooooooooooo i know................ rape alarms have tests buttons on them...............so u cud use one of those..............................just makes sure u dont pull out the rip cord coz thats very loud!

Yeah, I think I would prefer to avoid being shocked, zapped, or sirened while I was working on someone, but it does offer quite an incentive to keep the dental visit "pain free" not only for the patient. :(

Oh, I don't know what made me think of "[broken image link removed]" when I read the term "handheld buzzer." The sleepy brain of the Zzzdentist works in mysterious and sometimes naughty ways.

If the little clicker or other "toy" doesn't cut it, then one could consider bringing along one of those cheap, electronic "voice memo" gadgets. You know, the ones for the chronically forgetful? "Do up your fly" could easily be replaced by "Ouchie, let's pause and reflect on why there is pain for a moment" at the touch of a button.

I've seen novelty keyrings which might work well... You know, the "sound-effect" ones-- they have several little buttons on them, each of which plays a different sound when pressed. They're very small and would fit well in the hand, too.
Unfortunately, these are things that I've happened across in convenience stores at random times, and I have no idea where to start if actually LOOKING for one.

That's a great idea because it gets around it being a child's toy...a keyring is an adult thing.

There's also a Super Mario keyring with a button which says 'ouch' when pressed!

I just rememberd about 'easy buttons' you can get them at Staples here in the US for like $5 and when pressed it says loudly "That was easy" and they would be easy to get ahold of for the people in the US im not sure if yall have Staples over in the UK.

They actually sell those easy buttons, like the ones on the commercials??! How fun! lolol.... I need to get one and keep it on my desk at work for when the going gets tough lol!!!

just a word of caution no one actually go and buy a shock ball..........they're only fun for the people who are insanely drunk all the time otherwise its not funny its just painful............or if u have a fight with ur other half..........turn it on and put it i his bed so when he gets in.........he gets electrocuted......easier and more fun than saying " go sleep on the sofa" :)

How would I go about obtaining one of these?;D:)[smiley=evil.gif]

the best dare that ive ever seena drunk guy do is veet is balls...........hair removal cream down there for a while now thats extrememly painful

Getting back on topic, I found myself in a toyshop and tested the following:

bikebells - very effective, easy to hold, easy to ding and not too noisy;
squeaker bike bells - like old-fashioned car horns but not too noisy - also easy to hold
toy mobile phones - the ones made for tots in chunky plastic are a bit too babyish (some are too quiet also) but toy mobile novelty phones are cheap, adult-looking and effective e.g. found some for a couple of dollars made by Funtastic Houston called Funtronics Cell Phone (can't find a website though)

Re: Hand-held buzzer?? - dentists' opinions please

Wow - thanks for all these great suggestions 8-)!!

And now the million dollar/million pound question - which of these would dentists deem the most suitable??

Discuss!

;)

Not bothered really, whatever the patient wants to bring with them.

why can't people wave again? surely thats alot easier than this whole buzzer thing plus the noise might put the dentist off which im sure is the last thing ya wanna do

I think its on the topic of some people getting 'paralized' with fear and cant move? Like when someone on here had the nitrous turned way too high and got a back reaction but couldent do anything about it.;)

ahhhh ic.invested in a shockball yet? i thought i turned mine off earlier...... my blooming daughter turned it on coz she knew i would pick it up the lil bugger!

Not yet, I'm looking for a store in my area that carries them so I don't have to use my moms creditcard;)
