Ok so my apt to get a few teeth out is february 2 n they were gunna use general anesthesia. Well i gotta be honest. Im scared to death of general anesthesia i feel like its not so safe. Im honestly thinking of using local anesthesia(novacain). If this is how i feel what do i do do i call up the dentist? im feeling stressed n pressured:faint:

Hi Brooke - I'm a new member, and not a dentist.

Just wanted to offer suggestion: If you're not comfortable with general anesthesia, call up the clinic doing your procedure and tell them. They'll route you to the dental nurse or the dentist who can talk with you about it. You may have to leave a message and wait for a call back, but since your appt isn't for several more weeks, you have plenty of time to discuss your concerns with them and then decide.

Did the dentist insist on you being put to sleep or was that your request? If it's several teeth, maybe they suggested the GA? Either way, you're in control of your medical/dental decisions. If you'd prefer local and maybe a sedative, that should be an option. Even if you just want to do local anesthetic, that should be your choice. This is your procedure, being done on your body.

Oh ok. But yes my procedures not for 3 months now but yes i did choose GA but i chose it by mistake.

Try not to fret; I know it's scary, but always remember that you, the patient, are in control. ;)

And changing your mind is no problem generally. Especially so far in advance.

Ok thats good. Thank u.
