My name is Jamie. I am new to this forum as of tonight. I have always had an extreme fear of the dentist. Growing up, we never went unless there was an issue and we never got anything "good" from going to the dentist. I've I've gone to numerous offices in the past 5 years but I end up going in for a consultation and not going back because I get so scared. I had a bad experience a couple years ago with a root canal and the dentist had to keep numbing me and he seems he was getting annoyed with it. I got my temp crown on and never went back. That's gone now. Another fear is cost. I have no extra money. I do have a Care Credit account but I've got a whopping $1000 on it.......DEFINITELY not enough.
If anyone can help steer me in the right direction, I would appreciate it so much.
I'm in the Twin Cities, MN area, hoping I can find a referral on here.
Thanks so much!

) here so you may want to check that out. Sorry to hear you have had such a rough history with dentists in the past! Sounds like you just haven't found the right dentist for you yet but he/she is out there, don't give up hope yet! Do you have any close friends or coworkers you can ask for a recommendation? That's really the best place to start...I think a lot of dentists these days also offer payment plans to make things easier. There are a lot of reasons that you may have had trouble getting numb before. Your dentist should not have been annoyed...it's not your fault you aren't numb! If you're interested, this page has a lot of good information about trouble with local anesthesia and may explain the difficulties you had:
