How does laughing gas feel?

I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled next month and I hate sedative drugs. My first question is how does it feel to transition from normal to when they put the gas on. Is it sudden? Do you notice that you're acting differently? 2 months ago i had surgery and since i was stressed they made me drink happy juice which i hated. It made me feel heavy, weak and tired. The only thing that the drug did was make me less stressed about them putting me to sleep but I hated the sensation of losing control. I just hate any drug that will change the way I act.

I can can only speak to my own experience as I'm sure others may have a different tale to tell. As I was breathing in the gas it took what felt like a couple of minutes to feel relaxed. I was totally aware and holding a conversation with the dental assistant but was no longer feeling the butterflies in my stomach. As the minutes went on I could feel myself start to smile and then suddenly everything was sort of funny. I can recall my conversation and it was perfectly normal but because I was laughing so much while i was telling what was actually a funny story I had the staff laughing with me. After a bit I felt a little sleepy and didn't want that so I started breathing through my mouth and that feeling went away. As soon as the procedure was finished and they turned off the gas I was absolutely fine, no grogginess or wooziness at all.
