I'm going in two weeks from tomorrow. I told the receptionist that I wanted to schedule an appointment to meet with the Dentist and that I would probably need x-rays taken. I told her that I would be writing a letter to the Dentist explaining my fears and she didn't comment on it. I'm not reading too much into her not commenting on it though. They may not have many people mentioning that they will be doing that.

I'm going to write my letter out and plan to mail it one week before my appointment. I'm more nervous than what I expected after setting my appointment up. :o

Way to go!! I found the best thing to do on my first appointment is just to meet with the dentist. I went to a few before I lucked out and found a great dentist. I did not go to the dentist in years cause i was totally freaked out. My dentist now let's me take me time with things and so far I have had 2 root canals, a filling and a crown. It gets easier each time you go. So remember you are in control when you go. No one can make you do anything you don't want to do. Just take it step by step. :)

I still have to get my wisdom teeth out and I am super scared so I am going to take sometime with it.

That's terrific!!  [smiley=jumping.gif]  You should be very proud of yourself.  Taking that first step is sometimes the hardest.....I had to do it via e-mail!  I can appreciate how your feeling, when I made my first appt. I had to wait 2 weeks and I thought I'd go nuts.  Part of me was glad it wasn't right away and the other wished it was the next day so I didn't have to dwell on it.

If it makes you feel any better, my 3 month check-up is 2 weeks from today and I'm nervous too.  I'll be on here a lot, especially the week leading up to it.  You'll find that the support you get will help put your mind at ease.  It sure worked for me when I was gearing up for my first visit after many years.

Big pat on the back!!  In just two weeks you'll be able to say "I did it!!"
