Hi! For the past three years I have had chronic migraines, vertigo and post nasal drip out of seemingly nowhere. This caused a fear of the dentist I'd never had prior--and it took me 8 months and a few attempts to even work up the nerve to have the work started. Well, today was the day and even though I was frightened, the dentist and his team were very understanding and calm. I am very grateful to say I only have one filling left to replace and it's less scary now.
I am also having a lot less of my symptoms, which I'm sure were fueled by the anxiety I have been carrying for so long.
The thoughts that helped the most:
-The work they're doing is like water dropping into a sponge
-If I don't do this now, things will only stand to get worse
-All I had to do was show up, and let them do their job
Finding a dentist with many years experience and a confident, comforting manner was also a huge part of this for me. I am very grateful, and here to encourage anyone: if I can do this, I promise you can, too!
