On Friday I have an appointment with an oral surgeon at my local hospital to have 3 wisdom teeth out and a lower molar with a failed root canal. How many injections on average would be used for this? I’m not scared of the injections per se, more the unknown of it. I’m terrified about the appointment as a whole, that I’ll feel pain etc in it and that the dentist will just ignore any pain - I don’t know why I’m worried, I just am’

Hello Anna97. You are certainly not alone in the fear of the unknown at the dentist. Have you gotten a chance to meat the oral surgeon at all , it doesn't sound like it? Could you possibly call the office quick before and let them know your concerns? I'd imagine if you tell the surgeon exactly what you said here they would be understanding and take things a bit slower maybe.. Wishing you a good procedure!

@krlovesherkids777 thank you for replying!

I attempted to call the hospital today but the phone just kept ringing for about 20 mins so I hung up before anyone answered - bizarrely I’d rather spend every day at the dentist than spend any more time than I have to on the phone 😂 I’ve had one upper wisdom tooth pulled, probably about 3/4 months ago, and it took about 45 mins start to finish if I’m remembering correctly, so I know a little of what it should be like. I think I’m more scared because it’s 4 teeth out vs only 1 and I’ve been building up to the appointment tomorrow for almost 2 years now whereas the other tooth was extracted in an emergency appointment so there was no time to worry about it. Rationally I know it will be fine, I do feel a little stupid for refusing general anaesthetic or sedation, but I’m sure I’ll be fine! Thanks again 🙂

I’m on my way to the appointment now - absolutely sh*tting myself but I’m on the way and that’s the main thing! Traffic is a bloody nightmare so I’m glad I got the earlier bus, at least the traffic gives me less time to panic in the waiting room 😂

@letsconnect thank you! They only did the top ones today, the bottom ones will be done next time - but it was absolutely fine! A bit uncomfortable, but nothing too bad. I don’t know when the next appointment will be, but I won’t panic over it at all!

Oh that's great news - congratulations 🎉👏!! Wishing you a quick and smooth recovery 🤗
