Ive a dull toothache that goes up into the root it feels like

Had it in January took antibotics it passed now back again

Gonna ring dentist tomorrow but could I need a filling on this tooth am so nervous

He had mentioned root canal my dentist before

Perhaps, depends how far down the root the decay goes. Which I can't tell from a photo. If the decay has gone down more than a mm or so below the gum line then there's nothing more that can be done besides extraction.

He has said a root canal or extraction, hes put me on amoxcillin and will see me next week again for a clean and check up, i said prefer to saave the tooth becauze its a front one

But im quite scared of the idea of a root canal is it painful?

No it should be completely painless. Just boring for the patient
