I recently had numerous fillings done, 3 on the bottom left and 2 on the bottom right (it was the first time I have ever had any dental work done.). I had the initial pain that you would expect after having work done, then a couple of days of my mouth feeling ok. And about a week out my whole jaw began to ache. I went back the the dentist after taking ibuprofen for about a week and he quickly glanced at it said everything looked fine, that one of my cavities had been large and that sensitivity was normal. As time has passed its been about a month now, the pain has increased, and I have also started having pain on the other side of my mouth. The pain starts in the middle part of my mouth on the left or right side, and radiates back through the jaw, and into my ear. I went back to the dentist yesterday. They took an x-ray of the left side. When it popped up I asked the Dr's assistant how it looked and she said it was fine, but the dr would look at it. He came in said hello. Looked at the x ray, looked in my mouth, and left the room without a word. He then gestured to assistant to come out, and she did, they whispered back in forth, and then she left and he left, she comes back in the room and says that the receptionist will be in to talk to me in a minute and left the room again. After about 10 mins the receptionist comes in and says that the Dr said that the feeling may be close to the root and I MIGHT need a root canal, so I should go to a dentist an hr and a half away for this. I said okay. She also said that I had the symptoms of an infection, but they could not see one, so they put me on amoxicillin. I went out and asked isn't there anyone in this town that could do it, and they said there was one other person but he was months out. Today I was on MY dentists website and it says that he does root canals, and won't ever refer you to anyone else for one. I do not know what is going on, but am skeptical. Anyone know what might be having. I had composite fillings.
