Greetings. I chipped a tooth(#13) due to a cavity that was there. A significant amount broke off, but I felt no pain on it. Dentist said it would need a root canal because cleaning off the decay would expose the pulp and referred me to endodontist for RC. It was my first time getting one so I was really anxious and freaking out about it. Feb 20th I got my root canal and it was better than expected. Endo said everything was good on Xrays and built back up the tooth for my crown prep that was schedule on Mar 4. Gave me an prescription of Amoxicillin even though I didn't have an infection just in case.

First two days, everything felt normal...then i could feel a weird feeling from the tooth. Wasn't pain or sensitivity, just felt off. It lingers then the 4th comes along, I tell the dentist about the feeling, they said it's normal to have some tenderness and do the crown prep and put on the temporary crown. This process was more uncomfortable than the root canal with the string and the scanner. Weird feeling in tooth sticks around, but seems to be less everyday.

March 19, I go back to get the permanent crown. Tooth still has weird feeling, but less than before. They have to remove the temporary crown and it's harder than usual they said. Eventually they get it off, but it was very uncomfortable, i asked for lidocaine. Permanent crown is put on, tooth feels solid other than a uneven bite that i got fixed the very next day. Permanent crown feels very tight and there was a soreness after.

Today is the 26th, so one week after and the tooth feels weird, a much stronger feeling than before after it had disapated. Not pain but pressure when chewing on things. I assumed the feeling would be less or gone by now, but instead it has increased yesterday and today. Biting down after getting the bite adusted last week felt fine before, but today it actually was uncomfortable at the beginning of dinner. I don't know how else to explain. Should I be concerned the RC had failed or there is a fracture that was missed? I'm stressing out about it. I know some people take more than a month or two to recover, I just figured getting better would mean feeling better too, not worse. Could the trauma of removing the temporary crown have caused this increased feeling?

Sorry for the long story. Hope for some advice. Really scared about having to go back and then being told its a fractured tooth that needs to be extracted. This past month has made me shutdown for the most part.

Update: The tooth is now feeling sore, almost like a dull ache. Never during this ordeal did the tooth feel this "bad". All the X-rays before looked good according to dentist and endodontist, but I know fractures can't always been seen. Could this be an issue with the bite possibly being just a tad too high? Or is it sounding like a fractured root?

I'd check the bite first and go from there. It's the most obvious thing that fits with your symptoms.

Last night tested bite on pizza crust at dinner and there was no pain on bite or chewing, just sore after a few bites. However later after dinner, tooth felt extremely sore and achy and ramped up as it got later, super sensitive even when brushing. It had never felt this bad. It was so uncomfortable I had to take an ibuprofen. Went to bed worried and disheartened, just really sad...applied Sensodyne toothpaste on just the tooth after brushing as tip i found on reddit.

Woke up and there was substantially less soreness. Almost none unless I poked at tooth with tongue. Started talking and brushing teeth and could feel slight ramp up in soreness, but not even close to yesterday. Dentist office never called me back from the message i left on Sat.

Today everything feels okay and I chewed only on the other side. Does this sound more like a periodontal ligament injury?

Sensodyne won't do anything on a tooth with RCT. Unfortunately I can't really help much without actually seeing you.
It could be ligament strain due to bite being off, this would be the simplest explanation that fits your symptoms but there are a few other things. Again, I'd start with getting the bite checked really carefully and go from there.
