Question about x-ray findings

Earlier this month during my routine checkup, it was mentioned that the x-ray showed a spot on one of my fillings (apparently called recurrent decay), but that it was something that wouldn't need to be addressed for another couple of years. I'm a fairly nervous patient when it comes to having dental work done, so while I'm thrilled for the moment, I wanted to ask if it's possible to re-mineralize the tooth, or for recurrent decay to be be arrested? Since 2 years seems like awhile, and that there was no rush to address, I was curious if there were options or if re-doing the filling will be the only way forward in the future.

Both remineralising and arresting decay are possible. Getting some fluoride into the area and being a bit more careful with your diet are main ways to accomplish them.
