RCT and draining

Hi,

first of all thank you for your help so far. You made a massive difference to confidence and I successfully had a RCT today without too much anxiety. I was able to talk to dentist and he was truly a gem, explained the reasoning behind his diagnosis and it worked wonders for my confidence in him. In the end it was great and I left being happy that he's done the procedure.

Anyway, the reason for RCT was a long-standing abscess with a fistula that was draining. The procedure was done some 5 hours ago and the dentist worked on the RCT for some 2 hours and afterwards put the temp filling in, in preparation for the crown (in two weeks). The area where the fistula was looks better and I have no pain to speak of so all looks good.

The question I wanted to ask is that I think a saw a bit of draining still coming out of fistula. Is that to be expected or should I be worried that infection is still there and should I give him a bell?

No worries at all about the fistula still draining. The source of the infection was the tooth but the infection spread out of the tooth into the bone and tissue surrounding the tooth. During the root canal your dentist cleaned out the tooth so that the source of the infection is now gone. It will still take your body some time to clear out the rest of the infection that was outside of the tooth.
